Richmond (Yorkshire) Constituency Labour Party
I have lived in Great Ayton for half of my life – I am now 72. I feel privileged to live in such a lovely village on the edge of the North York Moors and overlooked by Roseberry Topping. A few years ago, after retirement, I decided to give something back to this wonderful village and created a website with information about all the shops, pubs, and restaurants in Great Ayton, which I believed would enhance Great Ayton’s economic prospects. I also built websites for other aspects of Great Ayton – tennis club, bowls club, the Royal Oak pub, Yatton House.
A few years ago, I decided to write down why I supported the Labour Party. It is the values of the Labour Party are the key to why I support them. One of the key ones is honesty and seeing our present Prime Minister telling lie after lie in the House of Commons prompted me to stand. We also have a Chancellor of the Exchequer, our own MP, who seems to be out of touch with normal people of this country when in his last budget he raised the prospect of a one pence cut in income tax in 2024, just before the next election, when our NHS is in a disastrous state, caused by the policy’s of the Conservative Party over the last 12 years, Brexit and then COVID. Our nation’s health is more important than a tax cut that will primarily help the wealthy.
